EcoEternity Forest at Holmes
The Retreat Center, Summer Camp, and camping utilize only a portion of the 550 acres that constitutes the grounds of HOLMES Camp and Conference Center. Most of the forest has been allowed to mature for a hundred years.
Ten particularly beautiful acres of land along the east side of Brown’s Pond have been set aside for the EcoEternity Forest at Holmes. A nature walk through these woods will reveal a large variety of indigenous trees such as American Beech, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, Birch and various species of Oak. In the spring, the forest is colored with flowering shrubs and trees. In the fall, it is a gorgeous riot of autumn colors.
Seeing is Believing - come on out and visit our forest!

Peter Surgenor, Executive Director
Holmes Presbyterian Camp has been a ministry for over 65 years providing summer camp experiences for children, youth, families and adults. For over 40 years facilities have been provided for year round retreats. The hilltops, forests, lakes and open fields have been nurtured to provide uninterrupted green space for campers and guests.
Camp activities focus at two central areas of the Holmes facility. Denton Lake and Westminster Lake are the focus of residential and day events. Campers venture into the forest around the lake to hike our 8 miles of trails. Most of the forest has been allowed to mature for a hundred years. Implementing a natural burial place seemed more than natural to Camp Executive Peter Surgenor when he first learned about the idea.
